Do I need to apply for transfer credits?
No application is required. Once you have received an offer of admission, a preliminary assessment will be generated through your Applicant Portal if you submitted your transcripts electronically through OUAC. The transfer credit office will conduct an official assessment once you have accepted your offer of admission.

Do I need to have a minimum grade in the previously completed course to qualify for transfer credit?

Credits from post-secondary institutions outside of Canada will be evaluated on an individual basis. Credit is subject to the university’s residency requirements (Academic Calendar) and to faculty-specific regulations.

The Ontario Tech University-equivalent course will appear with a grade of T and will not be used in the calculation of your GPA.

How long will it take for my transfer credit assessment to be completed?
Once all documentation is submitted, requests are processed in the order they are received. Please expect your evaluation to take eight weeks.
Due to a rigorous accreditation process, students in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science can expect their evaluation to take up to 12 weeks. Failure to include all documentation will result in a delay.
-
Can I challenge a transfer credit decision?
A transfer credit decision cannot be appealed unless there has been a procedural irregularity. Curriculum evaluations are conducted by the appropriate faculty and all decisions are final.
-
How many transfer credits can I receive?
As per the university’s Academic Calendar, at least half (60 credit hours or 20 courses) of a student’s courses must be from among the university's course offerings to meet the residency requirements for graduation. In exceptional circumstances with sufficient advance notice or in the case of special agreements with other universities, a dean may reduce this requirement to 25 per cent.
-
Who evaluates transfer credit?
All equivalency assessments are conducted by the university's faculty.

If I do not have my transfer credits before classes start, can I drop the course(s) I believe I will be granted?
We do not recommend dropping courses prior to receiving your transfer credit assessment. Check your Applicant Portal regularly for final results.

What happens if I am granted transfer credits after I have enrolled in a course?
It is your responsibility to adjust your course schedule immediately after receiving your transfer credit results. Refer to the significant dates in the Academic Calendar for add/drop deadline dates. Contact your academic advisor if you have questions regarding your course adjustments and program map.

I received my transfer credit results after the deadline for dropping a class with full fee refund. Am I still eligible for a refund?
