What type of applicant am I?
Ontario secondary school applicants
- You are taking courses during the day at an Ontario secondary school (this includes students returning for second semester and graduated students returning to upgrade one or more courses).
Ontario secondary school graduates
- You have completed your senior year at a Canadian secondary school within the last 18 months.
- You have no post-secondary education.
Canadian out-of-province high school applicants
You meet one of the following criteria:
- You are currently completing your senior year in a Canadian secondary school outside of Ontario.
- You have completed your secondary school diploma in a Canadian province or territory outside of Ontario, are under the age of 21, and have not attended any post-secondary institutions.
International applicants
- You are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- You are not currently attending a Canadian high school day program (in Canada or abroad).
- You are currently studying or have studied outside of Canada.
Mature applicants
- You have not attended any post-secondary institution.
- You have been away from formal education for at least two years.
- You will be age 21 or older in the calendar year you start your program.
- You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Transfer applicants

You have previously attended or are currently enrolled at another Canadian post-secondary institution.
TEAS applicants
- You are in your final year of or possess an undergraduate degree.
- You are interested in the Bachelor of Education program.
College-to-university transfer applicants
You are currently enrolled or have completed an Ontario college diploma (or equivalent) that is an eligible pathway to a program at the university.General Arts and Science (GAS) applicants
You meet one of the following criteria:
- You are currently enrolled in a general arts and science (GAS) program at a recognized Ontario college.
- You have graduated from a GAS program at a recognized Ontario college and have not pursued any other post-secondary education.
Home-schooled applicants
- You have completed the Ontario secondary school curriculum (or equivalent) through a recognized home-schooling program.
Non-degree and Visiting Student applicants
This application is for students who do not plan to pursue a degree at Ontario Tech. There are two types of applications available:
- Non-degree: You plan to take up to two courses to explore a personal interest or you want to upgrade your university record to qualify for graduate or professional programs.
- Visiting Student: You are currently attending another post-secondary institution and received permission from your home institution to take a course at the university.
Former Ontario Tech students
- You previously studied at the university but did not earn a degree.
Graduates of Ontario Tech University
- You have a degree from the university and you would like to do one of the following:
- Take an additional course.
- Enrol in another degree program.
- Take an additional course.
Winter applicants
Some programs at the university offer the ability to start in January.
It is important to note that a January start will generally cause students to be off track with most program maps and may require an additional semester(s) of study. Additionally, depending on program selection, some first-semester courses may not be available in the winter semester, which means students may not have a full course load.
