TEAS applicants
Description
- You are in your final year of or possess an undergraduate degree.
- You are interested in the Bachelor of Education program.
Admission requirements
To begin your studies in Fall 2025, you must receive the required undergraduate degree by Friday, June 27.
We do not require or accept a supplemental application or reference letters.
Please note: Admission is competitive. The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria, including school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.
Primary/Junior (P/J) program
- You must hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
- You must have a minimum academic average of 70 per cent (B-) in your best 10 full-year or best 20 half-year courses at the time of application to qualify for admission.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a four-year honours degree.

- P/J teachers deal with a wide range of subject areas. It is therefore desirable for you to have a broad academic background. Preference will be given to applicants with three or more three-credit-hour (or equivalent) undergraduate or graduate courses in these subject areas:
- English/Linguistics
- Equity/Indigenous Studies
- Fine Arts/Liberal Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Technology
Intermediate/Senior (I/S) program
- You must hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
- You must have a minimum academic average of 70 per cent (B-) in your best 10 full-year or best 20 half-year courses at the time of application.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a four-year honours degree.

- You must complete a minimum of five full-year courses, or 10 half-year courses with a 70 per cent average in a first teachable subject and three full-year courses, or six half-year courses, with a 70 per cent average in a second teachable subject. Teachable subjects include:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- English (1 communications course can be used toward teachable requirements)
- General Science (combination of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Physics courses)
- Health and Physical Education
- History
- Mathematics (1 statistics course can be used toward teachable requirements)
- Physics
Applicants with international documents
- If you have completed a degree from an institution outside of Canada or the United States, you must have all official transcripts translated (if applicable) and evaluated by World Education Services (WES). Please request the WES ICAP – Course by Course Evaluation.
- As an applicant, it is your responsibility to:
- Ensure all documents required for assessment are sent directly from the issuing institution(s) to WES.
- Pay for all costs associated with the WES assessment.
- Ensure WES sends your completed assessment directly to the university no later than Monday, December 9.
- Late submissions will not be accepted, so ensure to leave enough time for these additional steps.
- Translation of international documents.
- If your documents do not include an official English translation, you must also submit an official translation to WES. The translator must be accredited by a professional association of translators in Canada. To obtain the name of an accredited translator, please visit the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario website.
Monday, December 2
- Deadline for submitting an application and associated fees to TEAS for the primary/junior program and the intermediate/senior programs.
Monday, December 9
- Deadline for submitting transcripts to the university for the primary/junior program and the intermediate/senior programs.
Monday, February 3
- The earliest date a Bachelor of Education applicant can receive one of the following responses from the university:
- an offer of admission
- a refusal
- a position on a wait list
Friday, March 7
- The last date for accepting an offer of admission through the TEAS application (OUAC).
Friday, June 6
- Deadline to submit the tuition deposit. Applicants must accept their offer via the TEAS application (OUAC) before they can pay their deposit.
Friday, June 27
- Deadline for submitting all final transcripts and any outstanding documentation to the Office of the Registrar for students with conditional offers to the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program.
All applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency. This requirement can be satisfied with one of the following criteria:
- Your first language is English.
- You have completed at least three years of formal, full-time study (no less than three courses per semester) at a secondary or post-secondary institution where the language of instruction and examination is English. Note: The minimum three-year requirement does not include time enrolled in an English as a Second Language program.
- You have achieved the required proficiency on one of the English language tests acceptable to the university.
Transfer credits are not accepted toward the Bachelor of Education degree at Ontario Tech.
