General Arts and Science (GAS) applicants

Description

You meet one of the following criteria:

You are currently enrolled in a general arts and science (GAS) program at a recognized Ontario college.
You have graduated from a GAS program at a recognized Ontario college and have not pursued any other post-secondary education.

Admission requirements

You are required to complete program-specific prerequisite courses, which are equivalent to two similar/related college-level courses. For example, ENG4U is equivalent to the combination of Communications I and II.
- MHF4U and MCV4U are usually equivalent to five advanced math college-level courses.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the Ontario college GAS certificate.
Prerequisites may be satisfied by a combination of secondary and post-secondary studies.
You must be in good academic standing at your previous post-secondary institution.

Note: Applications from individuals who do not possess a Canadian secondary school diploma will be considered.

Admission is competitive. The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.

All applications to full-time undergraduate programs are processed by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).

The OUAC online application system allows you to apply to multiple Ontario universities or programs with one application. Here are the steps to follow:

Apply online through the OUAC website using the Undergraduate Application.
Be sure to apply by the application deadline for the program to which you want to be admitted.
Once the university receives your application from the OUAC, we’ll send you information about the next steps in the admissions process.

Admissions decisions for Fall 2025 will be released on a regular basis beginning in January 2025. The deadline to accept an offer of admission will be listed in your offer letter.

Friday, January 31

Application deadline for Early Application Programs. Early Application Programs include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours)
- Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) - Medical Laboratory Science
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Computer Science
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Computer Science, Data Science
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Computer Science, Digital Media

Friday, February 7

Document submission deadline for Early Application Programs. A midterm or final mark must be submitted for each prerequisite course in order to be considered for admission.

Friday, March 28

Deadline to submit completed applications to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) for equal consideration for all programs other than Early Application Programs. Early Application Programs are subject to early closure. Please note: Applications received after this date will still be processed by the OUAC and distributed to the universities. However, specific institutional deadlines will apply.
Document submission deadline for admissions consideration for al programs other than Early Application Programs. Documents received after this date will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as space permits.

Monday, June 2

Advanced standing/transfer credit requests and supporting documentation received by Saturday, May 31 will be processed and evaluated before the beginning of the fall semester. The Office of the Registrar gives no assurance that transfer credit requests submitted after this date will be processed before the final registration day for the fall semester. Transfer assessments will only be processed after you accept your offer of admission to the university.
Residence applications must be received by this date in order to guarantee a spot in residence.

Friday, June 6

Deadline to submit non-refundable tuition deposit. Applicants must first accept their offer through OUAC in order to pay their deposit.

Friday, July 11

Document deadline for applicants with conditional offers of admission to Early Application Programs. Applicants are unable to upgrade courses during the summer to be used for consideration to Early Application Programs. Courses must be completed by Friday, June 27.

Friday, August 8

Deadline for the submission of any upgrading marks and outstanding documentation for students who have received and accepted a conditional offer of admission. Applicants are unable to upgrade during the summer for consideration to Early Application Programs.

Note: The university reserves the right to amend application deadline and decision release dates without prior notice.

All applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency. This requirement can be satisfied with one of the following criteria:

Your first language is English.
You have completed at least three years of formal, full-time study (no less than three courses per semester) at a secondary or post-secondary institution where the language of instruction and examination is English.
Note: The minimum three-year requirement does not include time enrolled in an English as a Second Language program.
You have achieved the required proficiency on one of the English language tests acceptable to the university.

College Transfer Credit

Graduates of GAS programs at specific colleges may be eligible for direct entry to second year of certain Faculty of Social Science and Humanities programs. For additional information, please contact the Admissions department.
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science must comply with a rigorous accreditation process; therefore, limited transfer credit will be awarded to students from college technology programs.

Advanced Placement

Minimum score of 4 on Advanced Placement exams.
Maximum of 18 credit hours can be granted.

International Baccalaureate

Minimum score of 5 on higher level International Baccalaureate examination.
Maximum of 18 credit hours can be granted.

General Certificate of Education

A grade of C or better in Advanced Level (A level) courses.
Maximum of 18 credit hours can be granted.

Official documents must be supplied directly from the issuing institution/governing body to the Office of the Registrar.

Achieving these scores does not guarantee transfer credit. Granting of transfer credit is subject to faculty approval. For more information, please visit our transfer credit website.
